At approximately 18:25 hours Stations 36, 27, and 15 were dispatched for a structure fire at 198 Hepler Rd in 36 first due. 36 & 27 went en route within minutes of dispatch and was on scene quickly. L36-2 arrived on scene with E-36 and its crew, E27 also arrived immediately after. A second alarm was dispatched and tankers were called in to provide a water supply as there are no hydrants in the close proximity to the incident. The family was not home but neighbors that called the fire in and rescued pets from the structure and also removed some hazardous material's from the garage including racing fuel and acetylene tanks. E36 & E27 pulled two 2.5 lines from the trucks to combat the structure. They had a quick and effective knock down to the structure with only about 1500 gallons at most on the two trucks there at the time. The fire marshal was called to investigate the source of the fire and was found that it started in the electrical system. The fire marshal stated that the fire departments on scene did a great job and the quick response and quick knock down saved a lot of personal belongings. Companies involved included 36, 27, 15, Harrison Hills 169 Freeport 70, Fawn 150. Companies placed on standby at stations 36 & 27 were Hilltop 168 Winfield 46. No injuries were reported and all units were back in service just over 4 hours.
